Fox News host Tucker Carlson set out for Barack Obama to give a speech at the funeral of John Lewis̵

7; civil rights icon, in which he drew parallels between racial police in the 1960s and police response to Georg Floyd’s protests.

On Thursday night’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” release, the host played a clip of the orat, which Obama released at Lewis Funeral earlier that day.

In his speech, Obama addressed the ongoing police protests against the brutality of the United States and praised Lewis as the founding father of a “fuller and better” America.

In a service at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Obama established a direct link between the racist police and politicians in the 1960s, whom Lewis fought, and other civil rights figures, and the police response to today’s protests against racism by George Floyd.

“Bull Connor may be gone, but today we are witnessing with our own eyes the cops kneeling on the necks of black Americans,” Obama said. “George Wallace may be gone, but we can witness federal government broadcasters using tear gas and batons against peaceful demonstrators.”

He called for the removal of the Senate filibuster rule, which is used as a party technique, to prevent the adoption of legislation on voting reform.

Obama’s funeral oral was greeted with standing ovations, but Carlson accused the former president of using the event to gain political points.

“It’s hard to believe that the clip is real, but it’s except for a fake accent, Mr. Hawaii. Imagine that when a fat politician showed up at your loved one’s funeral and started throwing silly partisan talks about the progress of the senates, “said Carlson.

“Can you imagine that? You would be shocked if that happened. You would probably go out. Desecration of a funeral using campaign slogans? What kind of person would do that? ”

“A country crumbling due to racial conflict and tribalism, and one of the most respected people in the country, will pour gasoline on it and compare the police to Bull Connor?”

“As if America or Minneapolis were like Birmingham in Alabama in 1963? It’s crazy. It’s ruthless, “Carlson said of Obama’s words.

In a tweet historian, Kevin Kruse pointed out that the topics Obama addressed in his speech were those that Lewis wrote about in The New York Times, which was due to be published on the day of his funeral.
