Taco Bell has a new menu item that puts it in competition with chicken chains like Chick-fil-A and Popeyes.
Taco Bell said he will start testing his new crunchy chicken tenders in Houston, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, on Thursday before launching a menu item at national level next year. Customers can try out tenders in a $ 2 taco, or get two offers for $ 3 to $ 3 for $ 4. They can also be put in boxes of $ 5 and $ 7.
Taco Bell said he tested more than 100 versions of the chicken tender before deciding on the final recipe.
New chicken tenders are marinated in a mixture of jalapeno butter, giving them a slightly spicy kick. They are coated with tortilla crumbs and served with a new sauce. When Kate Taylor from Business Insider recently tried a new menu item at Taco Bell's headquarters, she noted that the taste profile of the sauce was somewhat similar to that of Chick-fil-A or Raising Cane.
Many fast food chains try to find innovative ways to serve chicken – whether it is between two Popeyes buns soaked in Chick-fil-A sauce or dripping in hot Nashville oil – and Taco Bell is no exception.
By adding a chicken tender to its menu, the California network is ready to compete with popular chicken chains like Chick-fil-A, Popeyes and Raising Cane, which have recently grown.
Last year, Raising Cane saw system-wide sales increase of 22.5%, making it one of the fastest growing chains in America ng to Nation's Restaurant News. Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A ruled as America's most popular fast food chain in a recent Business Insider survey.
In 2019, however, Popeyes made more waves than any other chicken chain that dominated the scene. from restart to original sale.
We can only wait to see if the Taco Bell chicken causes the same stir.
