A poll released Thursday by the Youth Alliance found that 47 percent of Democratic or left-wing voters aged 18-25 said they had seen ads for the Trump campaign on popular social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram in the past month.
In contrast, only 21 percent of Gen Z voters, Democrats or left-wing voters, saw a digital ad for the Biden campaign on the same platform in the past month.
New figures suggest that the president’s campaign is putting significant pressure on young liberal voters.
The gaps between the two campaigns also existed for Democratic or left-wing voters between the ages of 26-32 and 33-39.
Twenty-four percent of voters between the ages of 26 and 32 said they were digitally contacted by the Trump campaign. Sixteen percent of the same demographic group said they were contacted by Biden.
Seventeen percent of Democratic or non-affiliated voters aged 33-39 said they were digitally contacted by the Trump campaign, as opposed to 13 percent of voters contacted by Biden.
“This is not a general survey of young people. These are voters that Vice President Biden should pursue, “said Sarah Audelo, the group’s CEO.
“Convincing young voters are very motivated to vote up and down this year,” she added. “But Vice President Biden has a lot of work to do to get his votes.”
The demographics of younger voters in elections tend to vote less reliably, but were seen as a key factor in the overall victory of both former President Obama’s elections.
