Microsoft recommends disabling edge search suggestions: // settings / search. The Verge tested this solution and resolves the issue if you set Google as your default search engine.
Do you see an Edge failure when trying to enter text in the address bar? The team is watching! Meanwhile, as a solution, turn off search suggestions here: edge: // settings / search. When we have more, we will follow you.

The crashes of Microsoft Edge started around 7:00 ET and affect MacOS and Windows users. However, it’s not clear why they’re limited to Google users in Edge. If you switch to the Microsoft Bing search engine in Edge, no crashes will occur.
We have asked Microsoft for more information about the issues and will update you accordingly.
