The Wikipedia page of Meghan Markle was drastically changed just before her relationship with Prince Harry became public – she dropped her modeling work to promote her as an “activist” and “humanitarian” instead.
Records of changes to the site show a rush of activity late on October 9, 2016 – when the actress “Suits” was already dating Harry and just a few weeks before their hidden love hit the headlines at the end of that month.
The first change described in detail how she was “a model of case no. 24 in the US version of the TV game “Deal or No Deal”, changes in Wikipedia are shown.
10 minutes later, her input changed from a description of her actress, who was also a “fashion model, a talk model”;, to an actress “activist, humanitarian”.
“Markle is actively involved in the socio-political arena,” the new item read. “She also worked with women at the United Nations, where she presented herself as a lawyer in September 2014 at the UN headquarters for the HeforShe campaign for gender equality,” she said.
“Meghan also participated in the speaker list for One Young World (Dublin, 2014) and traveled to Afghanistan with the Chief of Staff for a US tour in December 2014.”
The entry was also changed to note that she was the “founder of TIG magazine” at the time, her lifestyle blog. Two days later, someone added a link to the page.
The changes were made anonymously from an IP address that was linked to Markle’s edits on the web.
The IP address is linked to a Los Angeles PR firm without known references to the Duchess, according to The Telegraph, who speculated that the changes could have been made by friends who knew her royal romance was about to be released.
Representatives for Markle did not respond immediately to requests for comments.
