Raheem Mostert got what he wanted. The 49ers discussed the deal this week, giving him a signing bonus and incentives that could double his salary by $ 2.875 million by 2020.
But the way it ran back, it didn’t have to excite the 49ers.
In early July, Mostert published a trade request through his agent.
“My reaction was, ‘What the hell are you doing? “Come on,” Lynch said at the KNBR this week, via Eric Branch of the United States Chronicle in San Francisco“I wasn’t happy.”
Now everyone is good.
He is probably happy with the compromise. After signing the three-year extension, he will earn more money a year. The 49ers will probably have a lucky Mostert, who had a rest season in 2020.
Mostert was in a hurry to 772 yards in the current season and scored 10 touchdowns in the regular season, adding 336 yards to the postseason with five touchdowns.
“Now I love Raheem and I love his family,” Lynch said. “It simply came to our notice then [negotiations]But I was a player, so I understand you’re not talking to the player directly. You’re talking to an agent.
“And sometimes I think that can cause things to be lost in communication.” What we finally did [in revising his contract], we always planned it, so it’s frustrating that it had to show. However, we had to win colder heads and we had to understand that Raheem is a very important player for our team. “
