How Kamala Harris became a controversial potential vice president for Biden

Senator Kamala Harris was considered a favorite by many scholars to become a runner for Joe Biden for some time.

Nevertheless, several recent reports have cited sources that point to doubts in Biden’s inner circle about Harris, and other options, such as former National Security Adviser Susan Rice or Deputy Karen Bass – both black women with extensive experience in the country’s capital – have seen an increase their stocks.

Proponents of Rice and Bass spoke of the lack of political ambition as a strength for one of them, who serves as a loyal selection of the VP, who can also offer his own political experience in the White House ̵

1; meaning that they will not be motivated by a potential launch. in 2024 or 2028 as Harris.

So what exactly is going on here and where is Harris?

The drama and mystique of the possible choice of VP will cause this process to mature with allusions and rumors in the press.

Almost every day, a supposed favorite can oscillate from one candidate to another. The reasons why unflattering data about a candidate or other rumors appear at a certain time can be confusing for those who watch the saga from a distance.

As for Harris, the core of the conflict is divided between two places at a time: the first first television democratic debate, which took place last July, and the presidential race in 2024.

As for those who allegedly have reservations about Harris, things get a little confusing, but only a few confidants near Biden are watching.

That’s what the drama Kamala is about.

The big story this week was Harris’s meeting with one of Biden’s closest advisers and best friends, former Senator Chris Dodd.

Dodd, which supported the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Bill after the 2008 financial crisis, is one of four members of Biden’s official vice president’s selection committee.

The 76-year-old allegedly regretted Harris, who did not “regret” commenting after Bidd in debates about his opposition to the federally mandated bussing, with a California senator adding to Dodd that “it’s politics.”

The viral moment centered around Harris and challenged Biden to stand up to the federally mandated bussing, who drew his personal story into the mix by describing how her bussing allowed her to go to a better school.

“In California, there was a little girl who was part of the second grade to integrate her public schools and went to school every day,” said Harris Biden. “It was a little girl. I will tell you that this cannot be an intellectual debate between Democrats. “

It seems that Biden and Harris later buried the ax and appeared even gloomily at the time Harris dropped out and finally supported Biden.

However, Dodd’s meeting with Harris, first reported by Politico, apparently went so badly that it revealed “a contingent of Democrats lobbying Harris for VP – some privately, some openly.”

Dodd sought a serious excuse for what he allegedly called the debate a “trick” that “was cheap,” according to Politician, instead of taking Harris’s view that Biden’s past positions were a fair game.

Whether Harris could be a credible representative of Biden, or give his own political ambitions first, was what Dodd and others in Biden’s inner circle, as well as some donors, feared, Politico said.

Harris’s credibility was reportedly the problem Dodd was most interested in when he left the meeting, but critics asked why the Septuagenarian white fool should be over how Biden chooses such a color for his running friend.

Gender trophies are also played with various connotations of ambition and loyalty that potentially work against Harris as a political woman.

Under the radar, however, two women are also key to Biden’s vice president’s decision, and neither of them is on the official selection board.

One of them is Biden’s wife, Jill, who was very critical of Harris’s attack on record, calling her “a blow to the gut,” and then hit a more conciliatory tone when they both appeared on stage in Michigan in March.

Biden said he often consulted with his wife on important decisions and it was difficult to get information about where he stood on Harris, despite campaign efforts to turn the page when a California senator approved him.

Another crucial figure in Biden’s inner circle is his sister Valerie Biden Owens.

Biden Owens has led every single of his brother’s political campaigns up to that campaign, from the student government to all seven of his Senate candidates and even his presidential bids of 1988 and 2008.

She carries many of the same behaviors as her brother and can show sharper elbows on the trail than Bid, who is more opposed to conflict.

While in New Hampshire, working as a political reporter for The Keene Sentinel covering primary group 2020, Biden Owens came up with a local field campaign to meet with supporters and volunteers.

When we finished shaking hands, we stepped back to the interview and asked about the moment of the debate.

Biden Owens’s behavior suddenly changed to a hint of irritation and he was released before an assistant came in, who said he had to go back to the SUV parked outside and head for another event.

“He’s very aware of that moment on the T-shirt,” she told me as she spoke of the Harris campaign selling goods, pointing to the moment of debate and one of Harris’s most memorable quotes, “I was this little girl.”

“You know what I mean by that T-shirt?” I was that girl and – for Christ’s sake, Joe was in favor of civil rights because he had lived him all his life, “said Biden Owens.

In The Washington Post in late June, Sean Sullivan and Annie Linksy said that disputes with Harris between Biden’s wife and sister were enough to bother the campaign, that they had to deal with a demonstration of unity.

“In an effort to curb the rumble of some Democrats who said they were showing signs of frustration with Harris by Jill Biden and Valerie Biden Owens, Biden’s sister and longtime political adviser, Biden’s campaign on Friday sought to publicly dispel the notion that their views on Harris were somewhat less as positive, ”Sullivan and Linsky wrote.

“Dr. Both Biden and Valerie do not only have respect, admiration and affection for Senator Harris, “Biden spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander told The Post. “Any rumors or conjectures to the contrary are not true and in fact or facts have no basis.”

Only those who have unrestricted access to Biden’s inner circle can know if these feelings have actually eased.

However, if Harris arrives shortly, warning signs were available long before the stories of the summer experience began to be told.
