When Hawkeye appears as a playable character in Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics, it seems that the character could wear hearing aids, as he does in comics. During yesterday’s Avengers War Table stream, Hawkeye was revealed to be a playable character coming into play after launch. In addition to the trailer, several art concepts have appeared. One picture of the character shows that Hawkeye is wearing a pair of hearing aids, although this is not entirely clear. ComicBook.com approached Crystal Dynamics for confirmation and received the following response:
“While this is our unique view of Hawkeye Clint Barton, his character and story are completely inspired by some of Hawkeye̵7;s most famous moments in comics. We look forward to providing more information about our version of Hawkeye Clint Barton soon. “
It will be interesting to see if Crystal Dynamics plans to incorporate this aspect of Hawkeye’s history into the game! The character lost his hearing after meeting a villain during Matt Fraction and David Aja on a solo comic by Hawkeye. It is not possible to say for sure whether this aspect will be included in the game, but with the DLC seemingly referring to other elements of Fraction and Aja’s run, it seems that this could be a clear possibility!
Crystal Dynamics has shown great interest in production Marvel’s Avengers inclusive game. The title will offer more interfaces for visually impaired players as well as controllable controls. Last but not least, the game also brings a new inhuman character called Cerise, who becomes in a wheelchair. To make the character’s movements authentic, the team even brought in accessibility specialist Cherry Thompson to provide motion capture for Ceris. It seems that given the efforts that Crystal Dynamics is making to make the game more representative for the real world, it seems that the deaf Clint would fit well into the game the developer is building.
