Aleksandar Rakic probably won the biggest win of his career at his first major UFC event.
The lightweight, heavyweight prospect punished former Smith Smith contender with kicking kicks and then beat him with ground and pounds to win a one-sided decision after three rounds. The score was 30-26, 30-27 and 30-27, Rakic won and moved his career to 13-2.
“I am satisfied with my performance against the veteran and former challenger,” Rakic said after winning over his arm. “Everyone underestimates my struggle and my struggle. I showed the world and I showed the division that I am not just a dangerous attacker, I can fight, I can fight, I can dominate the country. These men have to take me seriously because I̵7;m in the top five now. “
Like chopping a tree, Rakic attacked the main leg with a brutal series of kicks on the main leg during the opening round of the Smith Foundation. While Smith did everything in his power to overcome a series of his own kicks, Rakic made it the center of his strategy at the beginning of the exchange.
As the attack on his leg continued, Rakic actually placed Smith on the ground two in a row, causing the former title contender to spin around and then fall to the mat. Despite doing a lot of damage to his feet, Rakic was more than happy to get into a match with Smith, which kept him from absorbing more kicks for the rest of the round.
After a rough start, Smith fired in the second round and he teamed up with a strong right right hand that fired Rakica at the jaw. Unfortunately, when Smith closed the distance, Rakic was able to throw him on the screen and then follow him to the ground, where he landed on top.
Rakic was pleased with the short blows as he pushed Smith against and rode him against the cage, which thwarted any attempts from below.
After the remaining five minutes, Smith knew he had to finish, so he came out aggressively in the final round, but Rakic forced him to pay. The Austrian fired another series of kicks, first into the leg and then into the body and head.
Smith appears to have been trying to shoot Rakic, who was soaring forward, but the nearly 50-combat veteran was smart enough to grab his opponent before pulling him to the floor. Rakic was still in complete control when he had just beaten Smith on the ground when time ran out.
While leaving the loss of the decision difference as a razor in his last race, Rakic declared his victory over Smith in UFC Vegas 8. He is now trying to put his name in a title dispute with a new heavyweight lightweight champion crowned 253 UFC in September.
“You know what’s next.” The belt is another, “Rakic said in his interview after the fight. “[Dominick]Reyes-[Jan] Blachowicz, the winner, it’s me. This is another for Aleksandar Rakic. “
