ACC 2020 football schedule: Notre Dame will join the league for the 11-game season with one non-competitive competition

The conference announced on Wednesday that its football season will begin in the week of September 7, originally scheduled for Week 2 of the 2020 season. against an opponent residing in the home state of the members of the league.

“Today’s decision was taken after months of thoughtful planning by numerous individuals during the conference,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “The Council’s decision is a way to advance competition, where public health advice allows. Our institutions are committed to taking the necessary measures to facilitate return in a safe and responsible manner. We realize that we may need to be agile and make adjustments in the future. Notre Dame will take part in these festivities and the 10-match ACC conference will take place in full schedule, giving him the right to compete in the ACC Championship Game as a temporary 15th member of the conference in 2020. The ACC Championship will be contested between the two teams in the top position, as the ACC will not be played with divisions in 2020. The ACC Championship Game will be played on December 12 or December 19 at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

All non-converted Notre Dame games will continue to be broadcast on NBC, and television revenues – from Notre Dame and 14 other ACC schools – will increase and be evenly distributed among the 15 schools.

The ACC also announced that sports such as swimming and diving, indoor running, field and fencing are postponed until at least September 10. All fall competitions, such as golf, tennis, rowing, lacrosse, softball and baseball, have been canceled. Exercise in all sports will be allowed at the discretion of each school.
