A human foot found along the Templeton country road belongs, according to the San Luis Obispo County Driving Authority, earlier this month to a driver whose feet were torn off in an accident along Highway 101.
Investigators were around 9:15 a.m. on Sunday. A call to the area on the Santa Rita road after the cyclist reported finding a leg.
While the sheriff’s office initially described the remains as “suspicious,” it said the investigation was too early to determine whether the discovery was the result of an accident or malpractice, “a California highway patrol told KSBY News on Monday that it was likely associated with a previous accident.
The sheriff̵7;s office confirmed the information Wednesday saying that with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and its rapid DNA process, the foot was found to belong to a driver who crashed along Highway 101 north of Vineyard Drive off the night. July 17.
Officials claim that both feet were separated in a fire accident and only one was placed at the scene.
The crash site was about three miles from where the foot was found.
Investigators did not disclose information about how they believe the foot got to the area where it appeared.
